Entry Criteria
There are no formal educational requirements for this course. Students participating in compulsory vocational placement will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and receive a positive notice and blue card (for more information refer to www.ccypcg.qld.gov.au). It is recommended that applicants have a sound pass in year 10 English.
It is strongly recommended that applicants provide evidence of the following immunisations:
- Pertussis (dTpa, provided dTpa has not been given previously),
- MMR (if non-immune), and
- Varicella (if seronegative).
In addition, it is recommended that all childcare and preschool staff have Hepatitis A Vacination.

Program Articulation
Successful completion of this program may assist students to gain entry into further study programs and/or may contribute towards study credits.
Program Duration
Full Time 6 months
Classes are generally timetabled Monday to Friday, between 8:00am and 4:00pm. There is also an industry placement component.
Part Time 12 months
Classes will be timetabled 2-3 days per week.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.
Standard course cost will be charged for units of study/courses credited via RPL.
