Diploma of Fitness

The Diploma of Fitness is the highest-level fitness qualification in the industry and leads to the vocational outcome of Fitness Specialist. It provides you with the in depth knowledge and skills to plan, deliver and monitor the progress of exercise programs for both low risk and moderate risk clients, in conjunction with suitably qualified allied health and/or medical professionals. It may also be used as a career pathway qualification leading onto tertiary studies in the area of human movement studies or exercise science. This fitness course also incorporates Certificates III and IV in Fitness.

The program includes a broad range of advanced technical skills, management and leadership skills incorporating areas of study such as anatomy and physiology; postural appraisal and corrective exercise; the prevention and management of exercise related injuries; body composition management; exercise strategies for individuals with disability, musculo-skeletal conditions, cardio-respiratory needs, metabolic disorders, or neurological impairments and nutrition for clients with specific requirements.





Career Opportunities

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to obtain registration as a Fitness Specialist with Fitness Australia or Kinect Australia, providing both national and international recognition. Those completing the two-year program are also eligible to register as a Fitness Instructor and a Fitness Trainer. Career opportunities include Fitness Instructor; working independently as a Personal Trainer; Older Adult Instructor; working as a Fitness Specialist in conjunction with Allied Health professionals to provide exercise programs related to Exercise Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Weight Management; Sports Conditioning Coach; or Personal Health Management Provider.

Entry Criteria


Entry to the Diploma program requires prior completion of SRF30206 Certificate III in Fitness and SRF40206 Certificate IV in Fitness (or equivalent). Students who have not yet completed these qualifications will be required to undertake them as the initial stage of their program, affecting the duration of study (see below)
and
Completion of Year 12 or equivalent
and
A period of work history in the fitness industry or personal participation in fitness activities is also recommended.

Program Duration

Full Time : 2 years (includes SRF30206 Certificate III in Fitness and SRF40206 Certificate IV in Fitness)

12 months (if applicant already holds the SRF30206 Certificate III in Fitness and SRF40206 Certificate IV in Fitness qualifications)

Classes are generally timetabled between 8.00am and 5.00pm, weekdays

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Standard course cost will be charged for units of study/courses credited via RPL.

Government Subsidised Fee:

Full Rate: $1,594

A $40 annual Administration Fee is applicable to Government subsidised enrolments.

Government subsidised fees must be paid through existing payment methods at the time of enrolment.

Full Fee: $15,887 VET FEE-HELP* eligible.

To be eligible for VET FEE-HELP, and defer payment of fees, a student must be enrolled in a full fee paying course.
