- 1. Certificate IV in Design - Graphic Design CUV40303-2
This program is vocationally based with a strong emphasis on creative design skills and technical proficiency. Content covers the fundamentals of design including Principles and Elements of Design, Drawing, Typography, Colour Theory, Reproduction Processes, Communication skills and computer software applications. The content has a bias towards graphic design application as this structure for the Certificate IV in Design has close links to the new Diploma of Graphic Design. Applicants with experience/study/folio from any related design field, or those wishing to develop a career within these areas would be highly encouraged. The course has been developed in liaison with both the Graphic Design and Printing Industries, and includes the skill requirements nominated by industry. The program is supported by industry through visiting specialists and industry visits.
- 2. Diploma of Graphic Design (Incorporating Certificate IV in Design CUV40303) 39148QLD-1
This is a new qualification for 2008, developed in consultation with industry to meet the needs of the Graphic Design industry locally, nationally and internationally. The course`s core study focus is Graphic Design, involving in-depth study at foundation level into Design Processes, Drawing/Illustration Techniques, Typography, Printing and Reproduction Processes and Computer Graphics. Specialist units in Graphic Design and Advertising, Web Design, Motion Graphics and Prepress and Print Production are available, dependant on interest. The course has been developed in liaison with a number of professional associations, is supported by industry involvement, and includes experience in a fully functioning live-work studio on campus.
