Applying for FEE-HELP

How do I apply for FEE-HELP?

Students studying in HE001 Civil Engineering

If you are a student enrolled, or enrolling in the Associate Degree Civil Engineering you will receive a manual enrolment pack for your enrolment in Semester 1, 2010.

Your manual enrolment pack will contain:

You have three payment options:

  1. Enrol and pay upfront according to existing payment methods
  2. Take up a Payment Plan with Southbank Institute and pay your fees over the course of the semester
  3. Apply for FEE-HELP, and defer payment of your tuition fees until you are earning the set repayment threshold

Please nominate your payment method on your enrolment form. If you are electing to use FEE-HELP as your payment method, we ask that you return your Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form with your Enrolment forms. Additional copies of these documents are available from the Student Service Centre, Ground Floor, C Block.

If your FEE-HELP balance is insufficient to cover the cost of all units of study in to which you are enrolling, you must pay the balance using another method of payment (e.g. credit card, eftpos, BPAY, cheque or cash).

Please note, you are only able to use FEE-HELP to pay for Associate Degree level programs, and then only if you are an Australian citizen, or a permanent humanitarian visa holder for the duration of study. Other methods of payment must be used if you are enrolling in a different course, or if you are an international student.

Census Date

The day after Census Date is the day your debt for the semester is transferred to the ATO. In order to take up FEE-HELP for the semester you must have your Request for FEE-HELP Assistance Form submitted to the Institute by this date.

Whether you choose to pay your Tuition Fees upfront, apply for FEE-HELP, or a combination of both, you are required to finalise all of these arrangements by the Census Date.

Administration Date

Southbank Institute of Technology has also set an Administration Date. After this day you will be liable to pay a $200 Late Fee for the processing of your application or any changes to your enrolment (including a Change Enrolment Fee to withdraw from units of study). This will be charged each time you submit a request to change your enrolment or withdraw from units of study.

If you have accessed FEE-HELP, following the Census Date for each semester that you are enrolled, you will receive a Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) within 28 days. The CAN will show details of your enrolment at the Census Date including:

It is important to check all details on your CAN carefully. Please notify Southbank Institute of any errors within 14 days of the issue date on the CAN.
