Online Enrolments Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of important tips and frequently asked questions and answers about online enrolments.

Important tips

1) Your USER ID (student number) is listed in your email, if it is not, you need to “Register”. Follow the links for New Students.

2) If you have not entered the SSS website in the last 30 days, you will need to change your password. Use the Forgotten Password? link on the SSS log on screen to reset your password.

3) If you have paid via Creditcard, you can print a receipt for 7 days after making payment by clicking Report Manager in SSS and BPay receipts are available from your bank.

4) Your enrolment is not complete until you reach the Print/email an Enrolment Confirmation screen.

1. I don’t have a student number, can I enrol online?

Yes, you need to Register to use the enrolment site. This will create a username (student number) and password for you. These will be emailed to your email address. Once you receive these numbers, access http://enrol.tafe.qld.gov.au and use Student Log on.


2.  What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

Use the Forgotten Password link on the log on screen.

3.  I have registered but have not received my email with my username and password

Your login and password will be sent to the email address you have supplied to TAFE Queensland. You should receive these within 10 minutes of completing your registration, however, it could take longer. If you have not received an email within 24 hours, please phone Southbank Institute on 13 72 48 during business hours for assistance.


4. I have tried to log on but the system is telling me that my account has been locked. Why is this the case?

For security purposes, you are allowed three attempts to log on. If you can’t log in successfully after the third attempt, your account will be locked. To unlock your account, please phone Southbank Institute during business hours on 13 72 48 for assistance.

5. When do I have to enrol by?
All students must be enrolled prior to the commencement of your first class.

6.  When do I have to pay for my enrolment? And how?

It depends on how you pay. You have a number of payment options

1) Credit card – you must pay at the time of enrolment.
2) Cash, BPay or APay – you have until 5pm on the day after you enrol to make payment.
3) FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP – when you select this payment option you will not pay any fees at the time of enrolment, you have until census date to commit to this option.

7. I don’t have a concession card yet, can I enrol online and still get concession?

You are only eligible for concession if your Healthcare, Pension, or DVA (limited) is valid when you enrol.  Your card number will be verified with Centrelink during your enrolment. If it is not valid the full fee is charged, which is not refundable.

8.  I have a valid Healthcare card, but it’s not in my name, I am a dependant to the primary card holder. Can I still use it to claim concession?

Only Dependant Healthcare cards that have been used in a previous enrolment will validate for your current enrolment. If you are a new student and have a Dependant Healthcare card, complete your enrolment without claiming concession, then call Student Administration on 13 72 48 and they will validate your card with Centrelink.

9.  When I enrol, some classes cannot be enrolled into and a message is displayed stating “The prerequisite or co-requisite for this class has not been met”, what should I do?

This means that previous to this enrolment you have not enrolled into or have not completed or have failed a course which is a requirement for a class you are now attempting to enrol into. It is recommended you complete your enrolment into the remaining courses and ring Student Administration to discuss your options.

10. The class I am trying to enrol into is unavailable. What do I do?

11. I want to make payment online, is the site secure?

If you pay with credit card at the time of enrolment you will be connected to a secure Commonwealth Bank payment site.
