In addition to the range of scholarships offered by Southbank Institute of Technology, there are opportunities to apply for a broad range of scholarships offered through external Government agencies, Community Organisations, and industry.

The University of Queensland
R.N Hammon Scholarship
http://www.uq.edu.au/study/scholarships/index.html?page=104410&pid=104143A scholarship to the value of $3000 is available to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students who have successfully completed at least one year of an undergraduate program and are enrolling full-time for a subsequent year of that program. Preference will be given to applicants enrolling for programs in the fields of Science, Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture, Agriculture and Veterinary Science. Applications from students in other fields of study will be considered if scholarships remain after all applications from students in the preferred fields have been considered.

Q-Step entry program
http://www.studentservices.qut.edu.au/apply/special/qstep/If you come from a low income background and would like to undertake one of QUT's undergraduate courses, you may be eligible for assistance through the University's special entry program, Q-Step. Q-Step eligible applicants may receive admission bonuses of up to three (3) OP bands or six (6) ranks for entry to most undergraduate degree courses at QUT. Commencing students, who are accepted through the Q-Step Program and who enrol at QUT for the first time, are guaranteed a QUT Equity Bursary.

Youth off the Streets
http://www.youthoffthestreets.com.au/scholarship/scholoarship_nominations_2010.htmlOver twenty young people from throughout Australia are awarded scholarships each year to the value of $5,000 each to pursue further education or training so they may realise their potential for a positive future. This scholarship targets young people aged between 14 and 21 years old, who are disadvantaged and/or may be disconnected from their families or communities and who are permanent residents of this country. The Scholarship Program Manager provides ongoing support and guidance to each scholarship recipient for the duration of their scholarship. A youth worker is also available 3 days each week to assist recipients with personal issues such as housing, employment, healthcare, counselling and other service referrals. Nominations close 5pm, 7 May, 2010.
