Who we are
Southbank Institute of Technology is a Statutory Authority of the Queensland State Government. The Institute is charged with maintaining a lead role in vocational education and training and specialises in delivering higher level qualifications.
What we do
We offer a broad range of programs to more than 30 000 students from Australia and overseas each year, providing:
- Higher education and vocational programs, from Certificate II to Associate Degree level,
- Corporate and industry clients with tailor made training packages,
- Approved and registered State Government training programs,
- International students with vocational and higher education qualifications, both directly and through our partnerships with other educational institutions, and
- Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
Organisational Structure
Southbank Institute of Technology is a Statutory Authority of the Queensland State Government. The Institute is governed by an independent Board of Directors, appointed by the Minister of Education and Training. The Institute is led by its CEO, whose appointment is made by the Board and ratified by the Minister. The organisation has seven Directorates, three faculties and four corporate divisions, with each led by a Director who reports to the CEO.
Our vision, values and purpose
Southbank Institute of Technology is a registered provider of high level vocational education and technical training, established as a Statutory Authority of the then Department of Education, Training and the Arts on 1 April 2008 under the Vocational Education, Training and Employment and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2007, Chapter 6A.
