Organising your 2010 tour of Southbank Institute of Technology

At Southbank Institute of Technology we regularly receive requests from secondary schools to host tours at our South Bank campus. To make it easier for you to plan, register and manage your school’s visit we have developed some helpful information and an online campus tour request form.

If you are planning a semester one tour the online registration needs to be completed by 31 March. Registration for semester two tours needs to be completed by 30 June. This allows us time to ensure teaching staff and facilities are available and make sure your tour of the campus is informative and successful.

Before booking your tour

Please consider what facilities you would like to visit. We offer two types of tours:

• ‘Southbank Experience’ tour where you visit and talk with staff from all of the facilities on offer at Southbank Institute. This tour visits the areas of nursing, science, dental, beauty, fitness, business, multimedia and IT, acting space, gig studio and hospitality. This tour takes approximately two hours to complete.
• Personalised school tours allows you to select the areas of interest you would like to visit or hear more about. To ensure you make the most of this tour we recommend that you choose a maximum of three to four areas from the following list and allow approximately 25 minutes for each area visited.

Tour group sizes

We can accommodate a maximum of 25 students per tour group. Larger groups of students can be divided into smaller groups with each group able to visit different areas of interest.

Campus visit dates

There are times of year where campus facilities and staff are not available or where we may not be able to accommodate your campus visit. To ensure that we can look after your school tour, campus tours are only available between the following dates:

• 26 April to 21 May
• 9 August to 3 September

Timing

Morning tours can be booked to start at 9.45am and afternoon tours are available from 12.30pm.

Drop off and parking

The bus drop off point is in Ernest Street and can be seen on the campus map. Unless arranged otherwise your tour group will be met at this location when you arrive. Unfortunately there is no on-campus parking for buses. Please arrange for your bus to return to pick you up at your arranged time.

Refreshment breaks

Refreshment breaks (perhaps morning and afternoon tea) can be organised in addition to a lunch break if required. The campus has onsite cafes or you can arrange to have morning, afternoon tea or lunch catered for in the Institute’s restaurant or Pathways bistro. Catering options and prices are available on request.

If students bring lunch with them on the day, there are plenty of tables and garden areas around the campus to enjoy a break.
