For Principals and STEP Coordinators
The Principal is the only person authorised to register their school for participation in STEP. The school must be registered for STEP before students can register their interest in the program. As part of the schools registration, the Principal must nominate a STEP Coordinator for their school.
The STEP Coordinator acts as the liaison between the school, parent and Southbank Institute of Technology. The STEP Coordinator assists students wishing to apply for STEP, provides recommendations to the Principal regarding students wishing to take part in STEP diplomas, and coordinates their school's students enrolled in the program. Upon activation of the STEP Coordinators account, a school code will be issued to the coordinator, who will endorse suitable students by assisting with and approving applications.

Students interested in taking part in STEP must complete each admissions stage within given timeframes. Further information on the application process can be found at http://www.southbank.edu.au/site/schools/STEP/StudentsAndParents/index.asp
Absences
Any absences from scheduled STEP classes requires the authorisation of the student's school. The STEP Absence Request Form is required in advance to advise the STEP team and SBIT teacher of individual student arrangements. The QF277 STEP Absence Request Form (Doc, 257k) should be completed by the student/STEP coordinator and returned the to STEP inbox step@southbank.edu.au.
Withdrawals
Students wishing to withdraw from STEP will need to return the STEP Student Withdrawal Form. This form is required to ensure all parties involved in the student's STEP Program are informed and aware of decisions which may impact on the outcomes of their senior schooling. This form acts as authorisation for Southbank Institute to finalise a student's enrolment within the STEP Program. The STEP Student Withdrawal Form (Doc, 261k) should be completed by the student, parents and STEP Coordinator and returned to the STEP inbox step@southbank.edu.au. Should a student be eligible for a refund due to a drop prior to start of study, the STEP team will contact parents for further advice regarding bank details.
