| Dr Alan Roberts lectures in Business Education within the Faculty of Education at the Queensland University of Technology. Alan has experience as an educator and administrator in commercial, international, secondary, vocational education and tertiary spheres. He is currently Course Coordinator for ED61 – Graduate Certificate in Education and is Teaching Area Coordinator for Accounting Business Management. | The new art and craft of knowledge-age educator: Technological finger painting and collaborative modelling. | This interactive session is concerned primarily with approaches to teaching (pedagogy), not technology. Educators generally are well aware of the extent to which technology is reshaping education and work contexts. While, undoubtedly, there is a measure of challenge simply in keeping pace with 'new technologies' of greater concern is that we develop pedagogical understandings and approaches that will guide teaching and learning. That is, as educators it is important that we collectively come to understand what it is to be an educated person in the 21st Century, and how individuals might optimally be equipped to engage in knowledge-age work contexts. Importantly, as educators we need to ask ourselves are we to be a gatekeeper of the past, or a gateway to the future? |

Through these professional interactions they collect and collate knowledge, valuing their pasts and designing futures for themselves and others. |
