Inspiring Brave and Creative Thinking is Serious Business!

Susan Mackie

Traditional analysis and judgement are insufficient to deal with a constantly changing world. We need collaborative and creative thinking.

Collaborative thinking is the process that drives positive and productive results. Thus it is one of the most important components for organisations to develop and grow. It leads to focused problem solving, planning and decision making. It makes and brings about productive and effective outcomes. It enables new opportunities, strategies and ideas to be formed.

Traditional thinking is about criticism, judgement and debate. Innovative thinking is about reacting to a changing world and using our greatest asset – our ability to think – in an effective and powerful way.

Inspiring brave and creative ideas is a serious business. Innovation, design and creativity can be a deliberate process – achieved through the deliberate and systematic use of thinking tools.

The talk challenges misconceptions about the nature of creativity and inspires those present to consider themselves as thinkers and innovators.

This presentation addresses the need for clear thinking, creativity and innovation by explaining the theory and practice of tailor-made thinking tools.

Flexibility, agility and responsiveness: The new TAFE mantra

Berwyn Clayton

Current literature on organizations tells us that to successfully meet the demands of our ever-changing environment; training providers will need to be flexible, adaptable, agile and responsive. In concert with changing views of structure, the focus of organisational change is moving from ‘planning change’ to ‘facilitating emergence of change’- transforming cultures rather than conforming or reforming them. This presentation reports on some of the findings from the consortium research program Supporting VET providers in building capability for the future.
